Hi, I have a TrueNAS-Scale system with a RAIDZ2 pool and I'm considering updating the motherboard/CPU for it.
How does TrueNAS-Scale know the correct "order" of drives within a pool (e.g. disk A has stripe 0, disk B has stripe 1, etc..)? Is it using the S/N of the drives? Or does it use the assigned device name from the O/S ? Or some combination?
The reason that I ask is whether I have to keep the same order of physical disks when plugging them into the SATA ports of the new motherboard. Or it doesn't matter?
I'm hoping to load a clean version of the O/S onto the boot drives and then upload a saved configuration file to restore my pools & datasets. This has worked in the past when I had to replace a flakey CPU.
