How does the shutdown and restart in FreeNAS work?

Hello Guys!

I'm intrested in how FreeNAs realized the shutdown and reboot dialog.
I was not able to found the infromation in the source code.
Normally I need root rights for a shutdown of my system but when I shutdown my system via FreeNAs, the system only asked if I'm sure.
Has the FreeNAS Deamon root rights, or when did I gave FreeNAS the root-rights for shutting down my system?
The path to the file or files would be already sufficient.
Or if you like, please describe me the procedure.

FreeNAS GUI runs as root.

Everything the FreeNAS Web Interface does is done as root, if you want to restrict who can shut down the system you could put a password on the Web UI.
