How can I run Samba tools on FreeNAS

I'd like to be able to call a script that will show which users are logged into Samba.
On my old file server my script could call 'net status sessions' or 'smbstatus', but I know I shouldn't add any files to the FreeNAS OS.
And I don't see how I could get it to work in a Jail, since it would only return the users logged into the Jail....
Any suggestions?

What I do is I have a folder on a pool for system scripts, I then copy them to the /root folder and run them from there with ‘tasks’, it’s reasonably static and if it’s nuked by and update I can just copy them again
