How can I prevent a file from being overwritten upon restarting Transmission?

Running the most recent release of TrueNAS Core.

I've been trying to tackle getting Private Internet Access working with Transmission tonight, and after a lot of headaches and trying to follow outdated guides, I finally seem to have it working using this guide . When trying to run wget -qO - http://wtfismyip.com/text to check if my IP was successfully masked, the shell simply flashed at me for about a minute then let me type in a new command as if I'd never even typed the wget one. I'd run into this issue with this highly recommended Reddit guide , but thanks to a comment from Cory Vidal, I fixed it by running nano etc/resolv.conf and changing nameserver to 8.8.8.8 . Now wget -qO - http://wtfismyip.com/text returns the IP from the VPN as it should!

Now whenever I reboot my server or Stop and Start the Transmission plugin, I run into the same issue and have to reedit resolv.conf again to get it working. I'm assuming there's a good reason why this is the case, but it'd be nice to not have to hop into shell every time I have to reboot my server. Is there any fix for this?

Update: Seems things aren't actually working correctly after all. When I try to open the Transmission webUI via the Plugins tab, the Transmission page spits out that it failed to connect. I AM still able to ping different sites from the Transmission jail while OpenVPN is running.

Hi there,

You can prevent the file from being read-only by clicking on the right button, selecting the properties option, and changing the rights. and also check the transmission option to see if you can designate a new place for downloaded files or turn them off.
