Hot spare still "in use" after bad drive replacement/resilver complete

I had a hard drive failure, which led to the hot spare kicking in.

Following the initial resilver, I replaced the bad drive and let this new drive resilver. In the past, once this was complete, the hot spare would return to its stand-by state.

This time, it still shows as in use both in the GUI and the shell. I can't find anything about this peculiar situation in the forums.

How do I release the hot spare manually?

Much appreciated

Interesting, this happened to me yesterday as well... the spare isn't returning.

I thought I would try to fix this myself. First I took the spare drive off-lien then I ran "zpool detach myPoolName mySpareDeviceID" and the drive went back into spare status... just like that. I guess it's semi-automatic. Anyway, all is good now.

Had the same issue with a hot-spare. I had to detach the mirror drive because I got an "in use" error when trying to detach the hot-spare. Ended up adding the old mirror drive as a hot-spare instead after re-adding it to the pool.
