I have an application where I've been slowly adding on to a Dell T410. I'm up to 9 drives and need to add at least 9 more.
I don't really need a new machine, the current system does everything asked of it and works just fine. But I do need to up the density of drives connected to it.
I'm wondering what others are doing for 12-24 drive setups?
I've seen the conversation on the supermicro and Norco cases. I could go that way, though I don't really need the new cpu/ram/motherboard/etc that I'd have to build.
The only other constraint I have is sound is an issue. This is an office environment. It doesn't need to be silent, but if I want a hovercraft, I'd buy one of these:
