my name is retroman and I like trying different sort of Nas
I did syno, xpeno, freenas and even windows
My needs are rsync and deduplication.
I had some bad times with btrfs with big disks raid 5 on syno. And cipher for only 143 caracter files is a big problem to.
I have an old freenas running for 6 month without major problem except melted usb key ! my box is i5 2500 / 16 gb non ecc and 4x4tb raidz1
I want to go to something more pro...

Be careful with deduplication. The rule of thumb is 5GB of RAM per 1TB of storage. Read up on it, before you commit to using it.

yes I think you're right dedup is too demanding. compression will be ok.
