I have been using FreeNAS for about a month now. I played with it for about a month before that.
I have been involved in the software industry for 42 years, I currently do research in data communications. I have had a home lab system for about 8 years. For most of that time I ran Amahi with Greyhole as my redundancy solution. I shied away from FreeNAS because of the issues running it in a VM. My server system runs on Proxmox and includes a mail server, a web server, a database server, a Plex server, the file server and several application machines. Recently I started having issues with the Greyhole application and decided to switch to FreeNAS, I tried to take all of the advice about running it in a VM into consideration.
I wrote a long description of my system as a response to another thread, if anyone is interested I can repeat it here.
Good to meet Y'all.
