Any reason we can't have Hydrogen filled drives? Would give a new meaning to 'HD burn-in'.

Gasses don't like to be confined and can find ways of sneaking out and leaking.

Blankets do a pretty good job. Just sayin :D

It's a bit worse, the hydrogen gets absorbed into the crystal structure of the drive's metal chassis, which tends to make it brittle. Besides the sealing issues you mentioned.

We're talking IBM Deathstar failure rates.
