I've been looking into FreeNAS for a while for bigger projects and decided to dip my toes in with a small cheap NAS for my own use. So far I am really impressed, I hit 108 MB/s with this system and that's with the realtek NIC and no tuning. I even tried to put some video on it and have final cut play from it and it works. I guess I am going to look into low latency tuning for the network stack in the future.

Well, just wanted to say hello :)

That wasn't a real introduction. I've worked as a video editor and colorist for the past 13 years or so. Always been on of the technical ones who gets to help out when stuff goes wrong. Right now I am looking into doing something more on the tech side of stuff and maybe even going back to school and studying cs.

The realtek NIC craps out with I try to send and receive at the same time. Going to get a intel NIC instead.
