Hi folks,

Here is my current config:
- HP proliant microserver G8, boot on a USB key, 1 RAIDZ1 volume (4 HDD) for data, 1 volume on an intel 32GB SLC SSD for system dataset (thus allowing the 4 HDD in the RAIDZ1 array to standby when unused)
The B120i raid storage controller is disabled, I use the default SATA controller.

the result of zpool status is:

Code:
  pool: freenas-boot
 state: ONLINE
scan: scrub repaired 0 in 0h9m with 0 errors on Thu Nov 17 03:54:58 2016
config:

  gptid/54906f79-dc79-11e4-99cb-a0481cb8dad4 ONLINE 0 0 0

errors: No known data errors

  pool: volume1
 state: ONLINE
status: Some supported features are not enabled on the pool. The pool can
still be used, but some features are unavailable.
action: Enable all features using 'zpool upgrade'. Once this is done,
the pool may no longer be accessible by software that does not support
the features. See zpool-features(7) for details.

What I would like to do:
- Use the IBM M1015 card (IT mode) that I bought as storage controller
- Use the Intel 32Gb as a boot device AND system dataset volume (it is possible ?) because I don't think booting the OS on a USB key is the way to go

But I'm not sure on how to proceed. I saved my system config file.
But what are the next steps ?

Any help or advices would be really appreciated.

I saved my system config file.
But what are the next steps ?
  1. Move the .system dataset to the main pool.
  2. Detach the pool on the SSD and check the box to mark the disks as new.
  3. Do a clean install onto the SSD.
  4. Boot from the SSD and restore your saved config.
  5. Move the .system dataset to the boot pool.

I really hope you didn't follow my directions, because I realize I left something out. After step 1, you need to make a new backup of your configuration. Otherwise, when you do step 4, it won't know where to find the .system dataset.

Hi robert,

yes, I figured that out :)
I haven't had the time to try it yet, hopefully I'll be able to perform migration this week-end !
I'll let you know.
