help gettinng sas controller running

hi i got a test server tjat i want i got a sas contoller
i got these 2 HBA cards
Adaptec ASR-5085 5

LSI SAS9207-8e HBA
as i looked online people say both of these card are supported from freenas
i am new to freenas for a file server not sure were abouts the cards show up in freenas web interface

as i was wanting to conect my netapp storage array

hope some one can help me get freenas to detect either one of theses cards then it can conect my storage array thanks

I don't think the adaptec one is really a HBA, I think it is a RAID card. So better not use it.

The LSI Card should work without problems. There is nothing to configure.

I don't know where you got the impression that this is supported... there's a fair amount of negative feedback in the forums that Adaptec isn't a good choice.

Use the LSI card.

If you're just talking about the enclosure and disks (and wiping them to be used with FreeNAS), great.

If you want to use the Netapp array in FreeNAS, I doubt it will be ZFS, so no luck there.

Not really sure, what you are talking about. The LSI HBA won't show up anywhere in FreeNAS.
If you want to configure the HBA enter the HBA's BIOS upon boot.

If these are NetApp drives in a shelf that have only ever been used with a NetApp system, you will likely need to reformat the drives from 520 to 512-byte sectors and/or remove the T10 protection on them.
