Hi FreeNAS Forum,
Im making my first FreeNAS build and want some input to what to do, and general guide.
This is the current hardware i have on "the shelves".
SuperMicro Motherboard X10SDV-8C-TLN4F (Xeon D-1541)
64GB ECC RDIMM DDR4 2400MHz
SuperMicro SuperChassis 836TQ-R800B
LSI SAS 9300-16i HBA
8 * 2TB for ZFS-Mirror (NFS share for vmware platform)
8 * 3TB for ZFS-Raid6 (NFS share for general non important software)
So here comes my questions.
What boot device ? SuperDOM or M.2 NVMe ? (and what size) (cost is about the same pr. gb.)
What devices for SLOG/ZIL/L2ARC ?
Should i get SuperMicro BPN-SAS2-836EL1 or BPN-SAS2-836EL2 together with IOI DIPCIE4XM201 to make SLOG/ZIL/L2ARC
Any input would be appreciated.
