Last few years I've gone with all enterprise grade stuff from eBay and have had only a couple of HD failures and both were 2TB drives so they were old. My latest build is all SAS3 12G. 8 6TB. A mix of Seagate and Hitachi. I lucked out and got all low mileage drives so I expect this box to run 24/7 for many years without problems. But only time will tell.

As they say, you get what you pay for. On rare occasions you get a great deal but in general, that doesn't happen. I only plan that a hard drive will last the warranty period, never any longer. If it lasts longer (most do) then it's a bonus. If it lasts several years longer then it's a great deal.
