logged in today to see some critical errors on my box

running smartctl -a /dev/ada0 shows this below

I’m tending to think replace the drive now even though the volume manager says the mirror is online and healthy

That drive is in bad shape. If you have extra bays/ports, I would upgrade that mirror to a 3-way mirror, then get rid of the failing drive. Do you have scrub and SMART tests scheduled to run automatically and email you on failure?

Your load cycle count is high, so if you have other drives of the same model, they may need WDIDLE3 to be run.

I've just ordered a new 3Tb drive to replace this one I do have extra slots they are not hot swap was doing to replace the drive on arrival its a home box so outage is not a problem :)

I rebuilt the system drive and replaced the failing USB with an SSD about 2 months ago and stupidly did not re add the email on fail back into the config

thanks for the tip re WDIDLE3
