Hi there
I have an old RAID with 3 disks from a Windows 7 RAID5 and want to recover the data on FreeNAS.
Is it possible to just install drives and recover it or are there some hidden bumps on the road? ;)

I'm certain it handles it but I don't know how to do it without losing data.
I know the order of the disk No 1 2 and 3 but how do I tell FreeNAS to suck it up? ;)
Regards
Berna

Please use spell check.
No, you cannot just plug the drives into FreeNAS and read them. Did you old PC have a RAID card or was it software RAID5 in windows.

FreeBSD can read some types of motherboard RAID, but that's likely to be non-trivial to import. The best way would be to reconnect those drives to the original system and RAID controller, connect to an SMB share on FreeNAS, and copy the data.

It was win7 soft RAID5
The hardware RAID was not reliable according to forum ;)
But then I need to build an win7 and pick up the RAID and put it on another that have FreeNAS ;)
Thanks for Answer ;)
