I'm building a new hardware setup to run freenas 8.0.1

Keeping it low-budget:

- 4 X WD Green HDD (2TB)
- ASRock N68-VS3 UCC (mobo)
- AMD Athlon II X2 250 (cpu)
- Scythe Katana 3 (cooler)
- be quiet! Pure Power 430W (psu)
- Fractal Design Fractal Design Core 3000 (case)
- Kingston HyperX 8 GB DDR3-1600 Kit (memory)
- Intel® EXPI9301CT (netword card)

What do you think?

And is an extra network adapter necessary?

Should I get a RAID-card? I was thinking just running software raid.

The onboard NIC on that motherboard is only 100 Mbit/s from what I can see. An Intel NIC is almost always preferable to the usual onboard Realtek.
Another thing with this motherboard is that you only have one PCI-E and one PCI for expansion, if you need a separate NIC and more SATA you are basically out of luck. I would look for another board with at least both a 16X and a 1X PCI-E.

It is better to not use a RAID card if you are using ZFS on Freenas.
