For a pseudo-NAS, I currently have a Windows-based PC with an SSD drive for OS and 2 mirrored HDD drives for data. This approach has allowed me to clone (StarTech drive duplicator) the OS drive periodically for easy swap out after failure.

I'm thinking that I'd like to use this same hardware setup for TrueNAS.

I'm still new to TrueNAS and ZFS. Am I making this harder than it needs to be? When I inevitably seek help in the Forum after a drive fails, will this greatly complicate things for the people trying to help me?

Thanks in advance,
kcary
