GUI Timeout

Hello community, is the GUI timeout introduced with TrueNAS 12?
I never experienced GUI timeout with v11, and now, after upgrading to 12 I got autologout after some minutes. I can't see any settings to disable that behaviour, so, is there any other way?
Thank you.

Most systems these days will log you out after periods of inactivity. It is supposed to do that for safety, however if you think there's a legitimate reason to disable this behavior you can toss a suggestion ticket on jira.ixsystems.com.

Yes, I'm at home, so I don't care about "security", however I thought there is a setting on GUI or via CLI, anyway, thank you for reply.

Guys, inability of disabling GUI timeout is a serious issue. I have QNAP before TrueNAS and it hasn't this problem.

Then by all means, create a ticket over on the Jira and let people vote for it.

Hello! I was just googleing for that feature and was surprised to find this thread saying disabling auto logoff wasn't possible.. Did this change due to recent updates or is there still no option?
At the meantime I am using the Tab Auto Refresh Extension in Firefox as an kinda annoying workaround.

If you want action on the ticket, log in and vote for it, otherwise odds are it isn't going to change. Having an inactivity timeout isn't unusual, but having no ability to modify or disable it is.

This suggestion was already accepted in a ticket from more than a year ago, why is a new ticket and voting all over again needed? (especially for such a basic option which obviously bothers many people)

Yeah, I just started with TNS and IT. EVERYTHING has a GUI timeout setting and I have touched a LOT of gear in the past 30 years. I have never seen anything on TNS level have a static 5-minute. To quote Princess Bride, "INCONCEIVABLE!". I have lost so many configs while I was researching or distracted by life/work. You have to add this back since it seems it was in 11.

I have not spent enough time with it yet to get a feel for how live the page is. What does TNS see to reset the timeout back to 5? Does it have to be a save of config, or just a click in a field? A Cron job to find the first available field on the page and perform an action in the field like a mouse click. Maybe a page refresh but need to check if it keeps new config entries. Will have to test that. Just spitballing here.

Feels like we are the Lost TV show and have to keep resetting the island's timer. Sigh. It is by no means a deal breaker. Getting 6.1GB sec on large sustained R/W using dd from only spinning drives, no cache. Have a couple of 980 Pros NVMEs installed but saving those now for another build or Plex/Emby Metadata. The 4k tests were amazing as well. Like a giant spinning SSD. That is one badass ZFSz2. Tied that into a dual SFP+ 10Gb backbone and wow. Call me impressed.

I am hoping a solution has been found and Merry Xmas to us. Thanks for listening folks and Happy New Year to all.

P.S. If we tried to use this in my company Infrastructure would toss this out the door as soon as they lost a big config mod. SMH

Cheers!
