Hi there,

I've set up FreeNAS-8.0.4-RELEASE-x86 (10351) on an old dell box and have simply set it so that anyone on the network can access anything. No private folders, no remote access. It's set to 'allow guest access' & 'only allow guest access'

The office has a selection of XP, Vista, Win7 and Macs.

Everyone can access files. Some people can move files, others can't. Some people can save directly to the box, others can't. Some can rename files, others can't.

I haven't really been able to establish a pattern.

So, why is it being flaky and how do I sort them out?

Any pointers gratefully received!

Hi there, this is a semi bump. Thread title is stil accurate, but details are different:

Some files can't be deleted at all, from any computer, be they XP, Vista or Mac. For some rreason they are registering as locked

XP: "Access is denied. Make sure that the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not in use."

Vista: "You need permission to perform this action"

Mac: "The operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access some of the items"

Any idea what's going on?

Hi Bill,

Thanks for answering, but I can't find the answer. Sharing is set up correctly, but this problem persists.

Could you maybe link to the pertinent bit?
