Hi,
I had a Synology for years, upgraded the hardware and used xpenology. Now the support and updates stopped as you might know for the xpenology installs it was time to switch.
My machine? a HP Microserver N45L Gen7 / 16G ECC ram / some older disks which eventually will be upgraded later.
I tried for a whole weekend another free NAS solution (something with Rock), kernel errors, long installs, no support... stop!
but I want to forget that weekend fast so skip...
Now in less than 1 hour time I installed Freenas, got my disks spinning, doing upgrades and I am smiling again!
I hope to learn a lot an share my experiences. Thanks in advance and keep on rocking uhm Freeing
