They've accepted my online order for five of them (max. permitted) for in-store pickup, and I have the email telling me they're ready for pickup.

Edit #1: I placed a separate order for one more (it was maximum 5 per order not per customer), and that one is now ready for pickup too.

Edit #2: The guys at the store where I picked them up were amazed when I told them how much I'd paid. That store had no more left, and the online price is back to $299.99 (which was the price on the store's shelf tag).

Looks like you got yourself a genuine bargain there.

Wow. Spectacular IT failure...? Anyways, you'll probably like them. I've got about 5500 hours on a set of four in one of the 1U's here. Smooth sailing.

I just wanted to say thanks for this.

I've been planning for a FreeNAS build several months down the road. This moved my plans up to more or less immediately.

I'm not sure that it was an error on BestBuy's part, if that's what you meant about "Spectacular IT failure?": I see that they sold a bunch on eBay at the same price -- unless they have some kind of automated synchronization between pricing on their own Web site and on eBay, and an error on their own site propagated to eBay.

They had an error last year for the same drives. I paid $150-200 for the one I have. :P

Wow
I paid $209.99 plus tax from MicroCenter back in mid March, and at the time,
thought I got a pretty good deal. The drive has 456 hours now and has had no
issues

All we can do now is wait and see if they last, i got 2x 6tb drives, 3x 5tb the other day to replace my 4x 4tb seagate drives (over 2 years old), none of them failed.
Just a bit paranoid as my drives are made in china while my old ones are from thailand,
