FTP service does not start

Hi all,

I have sucessfilly installes FreeNAS 8.3 on my VMware Esxi5 Server ..
Network is OK, can rech the FreeNAS over http, can edit the settings ... everything looks nice

the problem is when I try to start the FTP service I always get the message "The service could not be strated!" :(

I checked the settings of the ESXi5 Firewall ... tuned on the FTP port ... another test ... same message "The service could not be strated!"


all the other services worke fine, can turn them ON and OFF ... no problem, only the FTP make troubles.

someone an idea??

SYS Info: VMware ESXi 5 server on HP 120DL G7, FreeBSD 64 VM, 2 CPU, 1 GB RAM

The services starting(or not starting) has nothing to do with your firewall. Your FTP settings are not setup correctly to allow for the service to run. Consult the manual and check over your settings and see what you are missing.

THX ... found the issue
the settings where all OK but I did somthing totally wrong... "FreeNAS 8.3 Srv" as Hostname will not work

so .. now for all the others: Hostname rules:
only use "A" to "Z", "0" to "9" and "." and "-" (do NOT use "-" in beginning or end of Hontname)
