Fresh Install of SCALE or CORE no IP address on MiniXL+

I have read /looked thru several other posts concerning no-IP but none of them seem to address what I am experiencing.

- My MiniXL+ system was previously connecting, had CORE 12 U7 running.
- I decided I wanted to try SCALE. I installed via USB stick.
- Install went fine
- Admin GUI not avail - no IP assigned from DHCP, no typical link lights
- remote admin Ethernet port seems to give Link Lights, but not onboard anymore
- literally nothing changed or moved, only the install attempt.
- I did not do anything other than default on the install, so whatever either CORE or SCALE do as a default install is all that was chosen

I have done the following:
- reinstalled CORE, same behavior
- reinstalled SCALE, same behavior
- changed Ethernet cabling
- confirmed Ethernet connectivity with another device (laptop)
- tried other Ethernet port on MiniXL with either ethernet cabling
- attempted manual IP, no connectivity
- loaded 'default configuration' in BIOS
- power cycled system (unplugged from wall and discharged)

I feel like I am somehow missing something basic on the overall install. Otherwise I would see link lights? I see them try to blink every so often but they never show as what would look 'normal' for link lights.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance

Okay, so coming out of the "Suppose that makes sense" department.

The clue should have been the link lights.

There was ONE thing that had changed. I moved the router so this MiniXL was now being connected to a large Ethernet run thru a wall.

I get link light with this on the laptop I used for testing.

BUT, it does NOT give a link light to the ixsystems LAN.

I put a short ethernet to another router to test. Link light. Booted and gave DHCP address immediately.

So, the answer somehow pertains to the ixsystems motherboard /ethernet not liking long ethernet runs for some reason.

Maybe this will help somebody else...Trust the link light :P

BTW, the link light will show up on the MiniXL even if not powered on (but is plugged in)

Could be a bad ethernet run... weird stuff can happen, such as fallback to 100Mbps, if certain pins have a bad connection.
