This is a weird one so I'm hoping someone might be kind enough to give me a few other things I can try here. I have a solid stable FreeNAS box booting off a USB key that I just GUI upgraded to 8.3.1.p2. No hardware changes. Have done several GUI updates in the past without issue.

Now, I'm getting stuck very early on after hitting the FreeNAS boot menu. Here's a screenshot.

If there are any other options I can try at the boot menu to get more information that might be able to help get my system unstuck, let me know. I'm actually not sure where to go from here and I miss my NAS. :(

Thanks for any assistance!

That was going to be my next step. I shut it all down to zero, did a fresh reboot and it came right up. Weird. Probably my hardware.

Thanks for the reply. This gives me a chance to sort of think, is there an easy way I can make a backup USB stick right now just in case this one dies? It might not be a bad idea for me to have a perfect clone with the same config sitting around. Is there an easy way to do this or will a disk clone program do that?

The only thing that really matters on the stick is the config which can be backed up from System → Settings → General → Save Config. It only takes a few seconds and it is a good habit to get into whenever you change a config. If you change the name of the config each time (e.g. by date or config change), it is easy to restore the backup config that you need.
