Hi,
today i want install fresh freenas v9.3 x64 STABLE to new usb stick. First, i use as installation media usb DVD drive and after "mountroot" error message when i boot from instaled disk, i decided use another usb stick as instalation media.
Instalation from all media succeded (usb DVD and usb stick) - at end of installation process can see on monitor message "no error"
After install (message remove cdrom on monitor) i always disconnect installation media from usb port. Next reboot and set in bios right boot order. But always get "mountroot" error message - ie. can not boot from installed usb disk.
Next, i decided to do not remove instalation media (usb DVD or usb disk). In bios i dont change boot order. After that i can boot from instaled disk with no problem.
I thing that instaled disk that i use as system, must boot in same order as in instalation process start (IE i cant remove DVD rom or instalation usb disk from USB ports)
Is there any solution how to change mountroot after install, that i can boot without connected instalation media?
edit: ok, i make copy of original usb stick with old freenas v9.2.1.9 instalation to another new usb stick (used Win32DiskImager - windows application). Next boot from this copy (to old freenas v9.2.1.9 instalation). Next i boot with inserted instalation usb and perform upgrade from that usb to freenas v9.3. Now its work well, include jails and plugins. But if in future i will want reinstall, i dont know how... Now i will test and if something goes wrong, i attach old usb...
