FreeNAS User Interface is still "information sparse"

The information contained in the FreeNAS webpage is spread out too far, requiring you to scroll, scroll, scroll... In particular the menu on the left side has enough space between each item for another item. There is too much space between lines in everything. How about cleaning that up? You could also provide a setting to scale the entire display, like Windows does, 75%, 100%, 150% (perhaps for the users who can't see very well), or a user input scaling percentage.

Couldn't agree more.

Prime example is the 'Alert Settings' page, using a 'drop down' system for the options is painful, a tabular system of checkboxes for the options would take up much less space and be easier to read at a glance - IMHO

Patches welcome. Implement the changes you think are beneficial and create a pull request and the devs might have a look. If you don't know how to code, create a ticket in the appropriate project and list out the details. The devs are not scanning the forums to see what the users require. They are looking at bug reports and enhancement requests in their trackers.
