FreeNas USB died and can't auto import Volumes

My Freenas USB died yesterday. I reinstalled the latest version of Freenas on a new USB drive and booted up. I am able to access the console now and am able to see the 4 disks currently in my system. However, when I try to import the Volume on my FreeNas system I don't see anything coming up.

Anyone know how to troubleshoot this?

What FreeNAS version were you on previously? If might be helpful if you provide details of your FreeNAS hardware and configuration.

Did you upload a copy of your config after reinstalling?

I believe I was on FreeNAS-9.10.2-U6 previously and just booted up with the current version. I have 4 hard drives.

I haven't uploaded the config yet. I was just trying to import the volumes first. I have my config saved on my NAS but possibly somewhere else. Do you know the filename of the config?

As a guide to what hardware details you should be providing, refer to the Forum Guidelines.

  • motherboard make and model - I don't have this. It is a Lenovo ThinkServer TS-140
  • Processor:
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4130 CPU @ 3.40GHz (4 cores)
  • RAM quantity - 8 gb
  • hard drives, quantity, model numbers, and RAID configuration (don't remember what it is called / direct mirroring of 2 drives onto 2 drives)
Hard Drive details below:
Name
Pool
Serial
Disk Size
Adv. Power Management
Acoustic Level
Enable S.M.A.R.T.

If you can locate and upload your config, you won't have to auto import the disks. The config name syntax is <hostname>-FreeNAS-<version & build>-<date & time>.tar eg. freenas-l-FreeNAS-11.1-U7 (b45bfcf29)-20190310103735.tar

Did you have your pool encrypted?
If you give the command zpool import at the command line, what is the response?
It should give you an output similar to this:
Code:
root@Emily-NAS:/tmp # zpool import
   pool: Backup
     id: 14342869398014433077
  state: ONLINE
action: The pool can be imported using its name or numeric identifier.
 config:

        Backup ONLINE
          raidz1-0 ONLINE

It looks like my pool was encrypted that was why I wasn't able to see the pools. Once I uploaded the geli key, I was able to see the pool. Forgot that I had it encrypted. Is there any way to remove the encryption? I probably don't need them encrypted.

You can't unencrypt the pool. You can set it without passphrase though.
If you need to have your pool unencrypted, you will need to replciate to a new pool/volume which is not encrypted.
