All,
I am planning on upgrading my FreeNAS server from 9.2.8.1 to 9.3 and I have Owncloud running on the server in a jail. I know I can upgrade FreeNAS through the firmware update but the question I have is should I turn off the OwnCloud jail prior to trying to upgrading? or does it matter? I have never done a FreeNas Upgrade yet so I am looking for some experts who might have done this before. I do not have a USB stick as a boot drive, I have a conventional hard drive as my boot drive if that matters. Thanks in Advance

Is there any specific reason you are upgrading now? The reason I ask is because FreeNAS 10 will be out likely in 2 months (it should have already been out but it had a few issues) and if you wait, you could migrate after that major milestone.

Either way, backup your configuration file before attempting the upgrade so you have a way to roll back if you have issues.

To answer your question, it shouldn't matter if Owncloud or any of your plugins are running or not.

Alpha2 is still 3 months away, with the RTM :) version scheduled for May 2016.

LOL, really. Wow, and I thought they were shooting for before Christmas. Somehow I got all screwed up on that release.

They hit a roadblock with the GUI and had to start over. Jordan posted about it a few weeks ago.

Yea, I'm bad about reading the announcement postings for version 10. I was just waiting on the release to hit the streets because I was having too much trouble with the beta so I gave up.

thanks for the answers guy, The reason I am upgrading now is because of downtime in the schedule. We are a non-profit and after the 3rd of January I will have about 2 weeks of downtime between events plus I also personally have some downtime and it sounded like a good project. OwnCloud will also be be upgraded from 8.0.4 to 8.2.x but not all at the same time. Baby steps!
