I started with a fresh install of FreeNAS a couple of days ago. It runs virtualized within Proxmox, with PCI-e passthrough for the HBA (LSI 2008 chipset).
I installed 6 1TB drives in a z2/raid 6 configuration, and after transfering a couple of hundred GiB of media files, a fault was reported.
The UI became only semi-responsive, and I tried to reboot. I had to force off the system because it just would not shut down.
I thought it was a bit weird that suposedly brand new drives, which I had smart tested and not found any faults with, were reporting faults. Especially since it was two of them.
I checked SMART test results and nothing significant, as far as I can tell, was reported back.
So I started again with a fresh install, and this time waited for 24 hours before writing any data.
Transfered the media file again, and everything seemed fine. Tried to transfer some more files this morning, and suddenly I have two drives reporting failures again.
Tried to open a FreeNAS shell via web GUI and the shell is frozen. See screenshots below.
I wanted to run a SMART test on these FAULTED drives, hence the use of shell, but it's frozen.
What should I do now? Should I try to reboot this system?
