Today I attempted to upgrade my FreeNAS 11.3 U5 system to TrueNAS 12.0 U6, through the web interface. Backed up the configuration, did the download & upgrade. After it all finished and the system rebooted I was greeted with: FreeNAS! Huh?? But the web dashboard is blank, some of the web UI is working but most is not.
But wait - it gets stranger. The web Shell still works, and look - the OS says TrueNAS!
It looks like the result of my upgrade is some weird half-working hybrid of FreeNAS and TrueNAS. It's a little early for Halloween, but this feels like Frankenstein.
This is pretty messed up. I'm thinking I need to create a boot USB stick and re-install from scratch. Unless someone has a better / easier idea.
