I plan on using 8 3TB in raid2z with freenas.

Will the ECC Ram still work as expected with the sata card Im using to add 2 more sata ports? Are there better sata card extenders out there considering I only need 2 more ports?

Havent quite decided if I am going to jump on the $80 seagate deal or go with the WD Reds ($35 more a piece) that have been good to me so far.

Also wasnt sure about power supply and advice would be appreciated.

We're not real fond of random SATA cards because it is so difficult to tell what chip is being used and whether or not it is any good. You might want to consider looking at the X10 boards instead of the X9, as there's a variant of the X10 that has a slew of SATA/SAS ports on it. For Plex, if you plan to do transcoding, you probably want a better CPU.
