FreeNAS only detecting 2 drives of Smart Array P420i

Ralms, where you ever able to determine if the card is using cache even though its in HBA mode?
I've got a new dl380e that i'd like to go towards for freenas installation, and honestly, i'd like the p420 for the fan thingy ...

The circle animation doesn't work with the old ciss driver in FreeBSD. Additionally, from what I'm aware currently you can only get the new hpsa driver in Linux.
However, so far the card is working fine, I even have now a SAS expander (this one) and managed to max out a Samsung 850 Evo SSD.

If you know how to check the cache part, let me know and I can take a look.
