You can chose a ZFS Stripe, which is similar to RAID 0.

A stripe or RAID0 has no parity or mirroring going on. If you have 2 drives, each 2TB, then you would end up with a 4TB drive. But if either drive fails, you lose all 4 TB.

Striping is the exact opposite of mirroring. For 2x2TB drives, striping would give 4TB with no redundency. Mirroring would give 2TB of storage on both drives.

That said, with striping, if you lose 1 drive, you lose all the data on both drives.

Out of curiosity, what's the reasoning behind no parity? Scratch disk?

You can also do single disk pools. Lose one disk, lose one pool.

To be honest, if you aren't wanting redundancy you probably are better served with other server options than FreeNAS.

Hi,

If you don't want any kind of redundancy, only need to backups disk 1:1, why the hell you need Freenas?
Why spent money on hardware for build a machine for Freenas?
Buy one or two external hard disk cases with usb3/e-sata connections and use the disks for backup on your systems.
