freenas "no configured interfaces were found"

I've just got a hp proliant gen8 g1610t microserver and from what I can tell freeNAS should be supported.
I've installed freeNAS using a USB stick but when I connect my ethernet cable I'm given the message "no configured interfaces were found".

My network is working correctly and I've tried the exact same cable on my mac and everything works fine.

I've tried searching for answers but all I've found is that my network card in the server might be unsupported.

Paste the output of ifconfig while the cable is connected (using Insert -> Code).

Hi, it all looks good now.

I've tried again today and rang a friend and the ip address seems to be coming through. I'm still not sure what the issue was but maybe going into ifconfig kicked the network to life?

It was most likely a transient networking error.
