Do not hesitate to read a resource like
this guide by Eric about zfs or posting details about your setup to be sure everything is Ok. There are many things that are easy to do / adjust at the beginning but once you are running, they are a real pain.
Common things to avoid are not enough RAM (less than 8 Gig) ; RaidZ1 (too weak to protect today with disks as large as they are now) and some ZFS options like people who turns on deduplication when it kills the system for no benefit.
