As I am a "class A" screw up, I can tell you what I've done in the past.
It does not matter what else is plugged into the USB ports, or if there is a disc in the optical drive,
if the bios does not detect boot code on that device, it goes to the next device in the boot order, No?
thats what its doing but i haven't tried the deleting boot options from boot menu yet, that seems like it should work, i actually didn't know you could that but there ya go, i've learned so much tonight, thanks guys have a fresh copy on virgin usb ready to go in the morning, tbh my head is fried but getting lots ideas from here, thanks again

but if you only put your USB drive in the boot list?
I went back and now have edited my post to include a recommendation for CD install method.
If this is chosen, you must have CD/DVD ROM first in the list.
If the USB install is chosen, then yes, USB must then be first, my fault to make the assumption :oops:
