FreeNas Host ODD for Vortexbox phpvirtualbox

Hello,

Pretty much as per title.

phpVirtualbox requires access to host CD/DVD drive as I've installed VortexBox (Automatic CD ripper to FLAC and conversion to MP3)

So far, total fail at finding a solution.

Headache is I assumed it would just work, as the world of linux has become just that good in recent years, so based on that assumption I purchased a DVD drive specifically for this project, (Yes they still make them, lol) and should it not work, it would be rather annoying.


System is a HP Microserver N36L 3x3TB WD REDS ZFS pool

Ok so I looked into BSD commands on how to mount a ODD, and came across the usual

mkdir /mnt/cdrom

mount -t cd9660 /dev/cd0 /mnt/cdrom


What I find a little depressing is the amount of threads across the internet referencing people trying to the same as me in one form or another for "YEARS".

Surely this would be a sound feature to support an optical drive even as a plug in to burn important backups to DVD.

If it was a FreeBSD box, you could follow the instructions in the Handbook: https://www.freebsd.org/doc/handbook/virtualization-host-virtualbox.html. However, FreeNAS is an appliance and its configuration database does not support the required settings.

Any clue how to give it the required settings?
