I don't currently have a backup solution for my FreeNAS server. I've been looking into building another box, but my budget won't currently allow for it. As a less expensive means of making a backup I thought to use 2x4TB HDD in a RAID0 enclosure and backup to this using eSATA. I understand this is doable, but in some old threads I found in a search there was mention of it not working well with the GUI. I more or less just want to know if this has changed or whether FreeNAS is going to be crabby with me.
I will likely do this either way as I need to have a backup solution. Just curious as to whether anyone has experience with this type of setup using the latest build.
Added note: I realize a RAID0 setup isn't the most reliable in and of itself, but I can live with the unlikely chance that my array and my backup fail at the same time.
