Yup, just kind of tinkering at the moment. Now, here's the question: Is there a setting to make the server broadcast out? Otherwise Pocket cannot use this since there's no interface to enter an IP.
didn't even know there was a pocket edition. you can host them with the same jar? not sure if or why broadcasts aren't working, maybe cause they rely on UDP and the jail can't do that?

anyways, here's a guide I found.

Thanks... tried, but stymied: I have to enter my MineOS server name in the external's server name I think. But i get "Unable to connect to world."

PC connection still works, so now I just checked console and there's no messages to suggest what's happening with tablet tries to connect.

Are you 100% sure Minecraft and Minecraft PE connect to the same server? I'm pretty sure they don't.

You are correct, sir! PE is on a separate version (features, et all).

Now to the point of pocket edition: with so many tablets around the houses accessing freeNAS content (Plex mainly), my kids also play minecraft that way (as opposed to PC).

Would love to see a fork of MineOS for Pocket but I can see where this effort has gotten fairly fully baked for FreeNAS 9.3 already.

If you're curious: http://www.pocketmine.net/

has some links for Linux pocket server...

xcom....any help would be appreciated.

I stood up a new Debian (wheezy) jail and did an apt-get of all the dependancies they name.

But the wget for their beta errors with permission issue (denied) getting https: from github for the phar file.

Is it possible to use this plugin (MineOS) to manage my Minecraft servers that are installed on a different (non-freenas) server? I already have JSONAPI installed and working (port forwarded, etc.) on the other server. Would be cool to just use this interface from the FreeNAS server to manage my other Minecraft servers. I'd prefer not to run Minecraft on the FreeNAS and it looks like when you setup a new server with the MineOS interface it will install everything on the FreeNAS box running MineOS (inside a jail).

Has anyone successfully configured MineOS plugin on FreeNAS to manage Minecraft servers hosted outside the FreeNAS server (where Minecraft is running on different server hardware altogether)?

I doubt it. It uses procfs to control local processes and I don't think uses the API at all. But the MineOS forums is the best place to get guidance with that.

Hi Josh,

What is the best way to upgrade the profile from server version 1.8 to 1.8.1? Thanks!

If I were to guess, you either update the profile or create a new profile on the Profiles page
On the specific server you want to update, you stop it, and choose the new profile.

But, I'm just guessing. The MineOS forums would be the best place to ask.

So for fun I installed this plugin. When I try to create a profile I get the green part at bottom saying the stock 180 profile was created but it's not. Ideas here? This is installed on 9.3.x in it's own fresh jail but just installing the plugin.

I can try it this weekend and see if 1.8 works for me. I've been running two 1.7 worlds on this plugin for months without issue. I did have issues that were fixed when upgrading from 16gb>32gb RAM. but one of my worlds are gigantic.

I seem to have a funny issue that I can't quite nail down.

I have FreeNAS 9.2.1.8. The plugin downloads and installs successfully. I can then login to MineOS successfully. When I go to either import or create a server, I go through all the steps, and it says that it's successful. If I look at the filesystem I can see that my world folder is created. However I never get the option to see server settings or to start the server from the WebUI. MineOS continues to report 0 running servers on the dashboard.

did you follow the steps I did in the YouTube video? you don't see a way to select your server and start it?

Yep, followed your steps exactly. The notification in the bottom right tells me I've created the server successfully (same if I do an import, though I had to chown the import directory otherwise it would say I did not have permissions). I've logged out and back in and restated the jail. No sign of the server or a way to start it.

weird, your dashboard doesn't show the created servers on the bottom? I would ask on the mineos forums then.

It does not. I'm going to delete the jail and start over. It feels like a permission issue and I've read about a runone script to fix permissions but I think that was on an older version of MineOS and I can't find that script in the jail.

mineos (the webui part) runs as root but shows only what user you log in as their servers. ownership is controlled by permission of the files in the jail. the video works cause I use a user 'mcserver' that has group ownership of the profiles file.

if you choose to use a user other than what I use in the video you need to change ownership of stuff in the jail accordingly.
