Good morning.
I'm facing the problem when using the hard drives (24x) from my previous box would output a lot of errors on boot.

First box was Dell R730xd with Perc H330
Current box is Dell R720xd with LSi 9207-8i with latest P20 firmware
(Before it had 710p and I removed it for LSi 9207)

I guess the problem should be within SAS standards, as the drives that came with R730xd are 12G SAS3 (ST300MM0008) but they should be backwards compatible according to the specifications from the manufacturer.
I wanted to use them in 720xd just to have more run life on freeNAS without errors for a while because those are new.

As a note those drives have been used in FreeNAS already. Maybe that would make more sense.
Please advise.
Thank you!

I know this is an old thread, but can you explain how you connected the 9207-8i to the R720xd backplane? I'm looking at doing a similar build, but I see that the R720xd backplane has 3x SAS connectors, but the 9207-8i only has 2 internal connectors. Also, which cables did you end up using?
