So im trying out FreeNAS 8.0.3 in a VMWare environment (using VMWare Workstation 8) before i start buying hardware/etc.. I've never played with it before so this is my first time.
I have the OS installed and its running fine in VMWare (yay), but im having some issues.
What I created was 4 1GB SCSI virtual drives (da0 through da3) and i wanted to try creating a ZFS volume out of them.
But everytime I do, an error shows up at the top of the screen then disapears that reads:
MiddlewareError: Unable to GPT format the disk
I can create a UFS volume but not a ZFS.
Any ideas on whats going on? Im assuming I can test this in a virtual environment but not having much luck with ZFS. I can make a RAID0/1/3 in UFS but can't get ZFS going.
