Anyone know where to find the service pack for beta 3? How to install it?

I don't think they actually made a service pack for beta3. If they had, you would go to Settings -> Apply Service Pack (TAB) to install it.

network restart

Not sure if it's to work like this, but I have freeNAS on box with 2 NIC: bge0 (integrated on MB), em0 (on separate card). I had my primary MB NIC configured and working properly. I then decided to change the name (just) of em0. n hitting "Save" for em0 I lost connection (no ping, no www, no ssh) with freeNAS on bge0 as well. Once it came back after several seconds, this is what I saw on log:

Code:
Jul  8 22:05:18 freenas freenas: net.inet6.ip6.auto_linklocal: 1 -> 1
Jul 8 22:05:19 freenas freenas: autolink does not exist in /etc/rc.d or the local startup

Jul 8 22:05:19 freenas freenas: status: active
Jul 8 12:05:19 freenas freenas[1688]: Executing: /etc/netstart

Why would it restart ALL interfaces if I was setting up only secondary interface? Not sure - maybe this is the way freebsd work, but doesn't seem right to me.

Hi,

Is it possible to add input box to the gui to make unique 'UnitInquiry' fields for each Logical Unit. This is a problem when you have more than one FreeNAS machine connected to a vmware cluster. The other units won't mount because they're not unique between the two machines. I'm currently modifying istgt.conf and manually starting istgt to make it work.

Example:
UnitInquiry "FreeBSD" "iSCSI Disk" "0123" "20000001"

spanning tree. I have two NIC's on my server connected to two switches, I'd like to use rstp (rapid spanning-tree protocol) to failover between switches in the event of a switch failure. Is it possible to add this, I see this as being very useful.

Thanks

No, FreeNAS is working fine in FF5.

Try clearing your browser cache, that is often the cause of odd behaviour particularly if you have just upgraded from a previous version of FreeNAS (as your browser will have cached old javascript resources that no longer work with the new version of FreeNAS).

We did intend to do a patch to BETA3, but one of the issues took a lot longer to sort than I had anticipated, and we sort of lost our window. I'm also in the middle of a cross-country move that has cut into my FreeNAS time. :)

That being said we are putting the finishing touches on BETA4 right now, and I should have a sneak peek at it up on the nightly server in a bit.

Hi Milhouse,

I cleared my cache of FF5 but there are some problems:

- If you want to delete a volume, the screen of IE9 get's red before you proceed, in FF5 not
- When you add a volume, in IE9 a windows appears while formatting, in FF5 not

Hey all :)

jpaetzel, thank you for your hard work, I appreciate the fact that you want to give us BETA4 real fast, but please take your time. I prefer to wait few more days and have a solid BETA4 then have it sooner and have it behave as it was ALPHA.

I am willing to use beta software as usual and help you find bugs, but don't want to be scared with CRITICAL bugs that should be discovered in testing phase and shouldn't exist in BETA. Actually, I don't want to install BETA3 and will certainly wait to see if other people have issues with BETA4 before even considering upgrading. If BETA4 has same kind of issues, I will wait stable release and I'm sure I'm not alone, sorry I can't just play poker with my data. That means less bugs discovered and even more unhappy people.

You cannot properly implement something? Revert or postpone it, don't just throw it on us please. Better wait then be sorry, help us help you.

Good luck with your moving and take your time!

Throw it ! We'll catch it!

Throw at us and let those of us who want to test and try play with it and give you feedback. Maybe a separate section for the more stable builds ? I dunno, but I still appreciate all your hard work.

Thanks Again! (from ALL of Us!

device_attach: acpi_throttle1 attach returned 6

Hi All,

I just tried to install Beta 3 to my 8GB USB key which I currently run 8.0GA from. I chose not to migrate my config but to wipe the USB key and install Beta3. On booting from the USB key, the sequence reached 'device_attach: acpi_throttle1 attach returned 6' at which point the system reboots. I rolled back to 8.0GA and restored by config from backup... on checking the boot up log for 8.0GA, I found the same line is also present, but the system continues to book ok.

Does any one know what this line means? Im concerned that there could be a change in the final 8.0.1 which might stop me from upgrading.

Thanks,

Andy
