FreeNAS 11.3 Solved All My Problems

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to give an update on my FreeNAS build here, I had several problems with Active Directory and SMB/ACL Permissions on 11.2 and even upgrading 11.2 to 11.3 Beta however with a fresh install of 11.3 everything magically works and the permissions are doing exactly as they're supposed to, no issues with the domain controller everything just works now so anyone having any issues 11.3 Stable seems to be the way and I know it may not be something to recommend to everyone but specially if you've been messing with system files and conf files maybe a fresh install will solve all your problems as it did for me.

In my case it also gave me a chance to organise my data and change the layout, but that also means moving data to tapes and other raid arrays just to really leave all the issues with the old dataset behind and make sure absolutely nothing will affect my particular case. Sometimes starting over will spare you the headache of figuring things out when you just don't have the time to deal with things and debug.

I will certainly keep posting here in case I find anything that doesn't work but 11.3 seems to be running really well and I will certainly recommend everyone I know using it to upgrade asap.

Thanks.

Counter-point: I'm working with my first 11.3 system and am beyond frustrated at the new UI and seeming inability to replicate my old, working configurations from 11.1

I just started over moved all the data to tapes and imported again, now as it was stated in another thread it's not really necessary to do that at all but i wanted to make sure everything including permissions wouldn't carry over from my old install, the only problem i had was the smart service wouldn't start with 11.3, but i haven't had the time to look into further.
