Hi,

I have a problem installing FreeNAS on my new machine:
1x Asus Z10PE-D16 WS
2x Intel Xeon E5-2683 v3 2.0Ghz 14Core
1x Crucial DDR4 PC19200/2400MHz ECC Reg CL17 4x8GB
2x LSI MegaRAID SAS 9217-8i

The installer hits a point on the load up screen where it just reboots.
I've now spent days of trying to read and find out why but with no success.
The problem occurs on both FreeNAS 9.10.1 and the latest version of FreeNAS 10,
however both Windows, Linux and even FreeBSD 10.3 works fine.

Have also tried different bios settings and different install media USB and CD but the problem still remains.
I attached a picture of the last message show before restart.
Any help to solve this problem would be appreciated!

Have you tried booting without the HBAs installed?

You should try minimizing the hardware. Just the boot USB, no PCI cards. No network cards. One stick of ram. Etc. no HDs etc.

Thanks for the tip that was actually one of the first things I tried, but the problem still exists.
The strange thing is that FreeBSD 10.3 works with no problem so I don't see why FreeNAS would not work.

Have never seen this problem before :S

Were you able to resolve this?

Unfortunately no, I have not been able to solve this problem yet.
Have tried all things I could think of but the problem still exists, though only with FreeNAS everything else I tried runs perfect on the machine.

Any suggestions?

9.3.1 can be downloaded from here: https://download.freenas.org/9.3.1/STABLE/

Just wanting to see if the same issues arise...

Okey tested FreNAS 9.3 (FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201605170422) and that one works, no reboot the installer start like it should.
Then I tried (using the same USB stick) FreeNAS-10-MASTER-201610062033-3bcfc24 and the problem is still there.

So obvious there must be some major difference between 9.3 and 9.10/10 that causes the bug.

This system doesn't have one of those USB gaming keyboards, does it?

Well, isn't 9.10.x and 10.x based on FreeBSD 10, whereas 9.3 was based on FreeBSD 9...

Okey quite similar hardware then, my guess is that the problem is related to the motherboard...
Also hoping this will be solved soon xD

1.I disable CSM in asus motherboard bios setting,
and no more reboot,
stopped at atkbd0: <AT keyboard> irq 1 on atkbdc0.
2.then i found this:
https://twbsd.org/forum/1/551
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=180862
that said:
When he installed the FreeBSD,
FreeBSD-9.1-RELEASE-amd64-dvd1.iso didn't support AT keyboard.
FreeBSD-9.1-RELEASE-i386-dvd1.iso support AT keyboard.
3.remove all my keyboard and mouse, still stopped at
atkbdc0: <Keyboard controller (i8042)> at port 0x60 0x64 on isa0
atkbd0: <AT keyboard> irq 1 on atkbdc0.
hope probleam is here....
