Suggest moving Menu 8) Reset to Factory Default away from 9) shell menu.

This may sound trivial and yes I'm and idiot. I needed to get into the shell and I hit options 8 instead of 9. I know a confirmation yes/no question comes up but I was tired and so use to answering yes when I ssh into a new system, I did not even think about it twice. I just typed "yes" hit return and then I realized what I had just did. The good news is I did have a backup of the config saved and was able to get back up with some time and minimal issues.

Not sure what you can do, just thought I would share my story and make a suggestion.

Current

I would suggest to not use the console - but use ssh to remote administer the nas. Any way, the console sucks - it has the qwerty keyboard and is hard to use in countries outside the us - and has limited functionality.

It is merely for last rescue - in case nothing else works...

I agree with the last resort for console use.

That's what happened I could not ssh into the box and needed console access. what is sad is the issue turned out to be an issue with the LAGG interface on the switch.

Maybe away from Reset WebGUI as well... cause, you know, some of us (pointing at myself) are idiots and see the confirmation and thing, yes, I want to reset. Then scream in horror as we realize we said yes to resetting the whole system.
