Hello all, I am a total noob when it comes to command line and such and basically at in impasse when it comes to flashing my 9400-8i HBA. I finally figured out how to use storcli from within truenas which is the correct tool to flash my HBA but im having trouble figuring out how to actually get my firmware files into the server(how to setup the usb properly and mount it, i was seeing to use rufus and create an ms dos drive and just copy my files into the root directory), as well as how to find the file path for my usb with which to actually download the firmware to the card from. Sorry if this is a super simple question but at this point i feel like ive looked everywhere.
Thanks in advance!

Yep, I see you have a 9400. In general, the goal with Truenas is to not buy latest and greatest but proven hardware. No one here that I am aware of has experience with those cards, some users might. But those who have been here a while likely would never buy one is the issue here.

You can review some of this thread and maybe ask the user (sunshine931) who actually had one:

Whether it works properly on Scale or not, no idea. It's just not something most here would use.

Definitely fair, guess I didn’t consider an almost 7 year old device “the latest and the greatest” I also have definitely seen threads of people running them successfully, I can even already see the device from truenas cli with the storcli command I am also sadly just seeing that the card is not in it mode. I do really appreciate your help though! I will have access to some drives tomorrow though so I will be able to actually see if drives are detected and such.

Well, bad wording you are right. Unproven on Truenas by the experienced hardware guys better wording. Best to check with people here before buying is the advice.

I have seen a few people using them yes.

You HAVE to flash it since it is not in IT mode. Let me know how it goes though, interested in hearing how it works.
