Hello everybody,
I am planning to build a TrueNAS server.
The goal is to have at least:
* Backup-NAS (Two Macs via TimeMachine)
* Smart Home Server (Home Assistant)
* Docker containers (EMQX / mosquitto, AdGuard Home, InfluxDB, Jellyfin, Vaultwarden, ESPHome, Grafana, Fenrus / Heimdall, traefik)
* VMs: 3CX SIP server
* For media, I want to use Jellyfin with hardware transcoding
My current hardware selection:
* Case: RM-1941 (because of the rack size no bigger one is possible)
* Motherboard: Super Micro SUPERMICRO X13SAE-F
* CPU: i5 13500
* RAM: Kingston RAM D5 4800 32GB ECC R (KSM48R40BS4TMM-32HMR) (2x for the start, adding another two if needed)
* 5x TOSHIBA MG09ACA18TE 18 TB (Raidz2)
* NVMe SSDs for OS and caches (Samsung 970 EVO)
* 1x Samsung 870 EVO SATA if possible for transcoding cache, does not need any raid because can be transcoded anytime and will be a purged by scheduler of Jellyfin
What do you think about the component selection?
The CPU is a hybrid one with iGPU which should be able to fit my hardware transcoding needs.
It should be power efficient but will run 24/7 because of Home Assistant and 3CX at least.
The RAM is not listed in the QVL, there is only one entry (https://store.supermicro.com/us_en/16gb-ddr5-4800-mem-dr516l-sl02-er48.html).
A Xeon will be way more expensive and often does not have a iGPU which means additional power consumption too. This is why I want to avoid a Xeon.
Do you see any issues with this configuration for TrueNAS Scale?
Thanks a lot four your support and have a great day,
Daxi
