Hi,

I am running 11.3 on a HP DL385p G8 ( 2 x AMD 6376, 8 x 8GB RAM ) with 19 x 900GB SAS 10k & 6 x 1TB SSD ( booting from a USB ) and all disks connected through a HP P421 ( 2GB FBWC & BBU) configured as an HBA ( not in RAID mode ).

For almost 2 years everything ran perfectly ( running some VM on Proxmox on a dell C6320 cluster ) but now I do have some problems.
The NFS connection from Proxmos is being lost and lots of errors on making active the nfs mount.

I have verified all the disk and the logs and haven`t found nothing till today whe I received several.

CRITICAL
Device: /dev/ciss0 [cciss_disk_24] [SCSI], SMART Failure: FIRMWARE IMPENDING FAILURE DATA ERROR RATE TOO HIGH.

Is a problem with that disk or the error is caused by the P421 controller ?

Seems to be pointing to one disk specifically.

cciss_disk_24

You should read this to make sure you're not taking more risk than you think...

also following your advices I will probably install a HP H240 HBA and I will not use anymore the P420i.
