Hi;

I am running FreeNAS 8.3.0 and have a dataset shared via CIFS (I have a mixed PC and Mac Network).

Just lately whenever I access a folder on the NAS the files appear briefly but then the disappear!!!

I am running a Macbook Pro 2008 OSX 10.9.1 (Mavericks)

Any idea what's going on?

How are you connecting to the NAS?

I have read lots of reports that the new smb2 in Mavericks are broken when used with other NAS devices (Qnap, Synology etc. etc. )
The workaround is to connect with cmd-k and type in cifs://IP-TO-NAS
That will force Mavericks to use the old smb1, so you will not gain any performance from that. But it should give you your files back. ;-)

My recent testing of FreeNAS 9.2.1 BETA are really great in use with Mavericks. But beware that its still in beta as in beta (not for production yet) ;-)

Dennis;

Thanks for the response, I am connecting using a CIFS share and browsing via finder on the Mac. Interestingly I experienced the same 'disappearing file' scenario when trying to view the files via Windows XP Pro which is installed on the same Mac via Boot Camp??

I'll try the fix you suggested, however may I assume that I replace "IP-TO-NAS" with the static IP Address that I have assigned to my NAS?

Thanks
